Beloved Harris County High School head baseball coach, teacher killed in ATV crash

Many people have taken to social media to talk about the life and legacy that Tony Dimitri leaves behind in his community and school.

HARRIS COUNTY, Ga. — The Harris County community is mourning after a beloved high school baseball head coach and teacher was killed in an ATV crash on Saturday night.

The Georgia High School Association posted a tribute on its X page to Harris County High School baseball coach Tony Dimitri, saying his “influence extended far beyond the baseball field and classroom.”


Harris County Baseball posted a message on its Facebook page on Sunday evening, calling Dimitri “a role model who gave everything to this program and to the young men who wore a Tigers jersey.”

“Coach Dimitri was more than a coach, he was a mentor, a leader, and a role model … His passion for the game and commitment to building character will forever be part of Harris County Baseball.”

11Alive reached out to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office for more information regarding the crash, but they said they did not have any comment at this time.
