How to watch Jordan Stolz in the men’s speed skating 500 meters

WASHINGTON — American speedskater Jordan Stolz’s bid for four gold medals in four events continues Saturday in the 500-meter final.

The 21-year-old Stolz, from Wisconsin, collected his first gold medal in Italy when he set an Olympic record in a blistering victory in the 1,000 meters Wednesday. Not even a judge’s ruling that gave a competitor a second crack at it could stop Stolz from steamrolling to victory.

The victory marked the first U.S. gold medal in the men’s 1,000 meters speed skating event since Shani Davis won back-to-back titles in 2006 and 2010.

Stolz is the premier sprinter in the sport today and arrived in Milan with a legitimate shot at wins in the 500, 1,000, 1,500 and mass start.

No, he’s not quite in the territory of skating great Eric Heiden — who went a staggering 5-for-5 in Lake Placid 46 years ago — but he’s pretty close.

“One gold medal is huge enough, right? It would be super nice to have two, three, right?” Stolz said.

In addition to Stolz, U.S. speed skaters Cooper McLeod and Zach Stoppelmoor will race in the finals.

The men’s speed skating 500 meter race will be at 11 a.m. ET Saturday.

The race will air live on NBC and Peacock. It will reair on NBC at 4:30 p.m. ET. Saturday and on USA Network at 2 a.m. Sunday.
